We are excited to highlight a special series of STEAM career videos created in collaboration with an inspiring group of guest speakers. These professionals from science, technology, engineering, art and design, and mathematics generously shared their time and experiences to motivate our students.
Through short, engaging videos, they provide real-world perspectives on their fields, explain the many opportunities that a STEAM education can lead to, and encourage students to explore their own career interests. Their insight brings each profession to life in a way that is both educational and inspiring, and we are truly grateful for their contributions.

The Middle East District is responsible for providing engineering and construction services throughout the Middle East, Central Asia, and other regions as required. Its mission includes designing and constructing facilities for U.S. forces and performing critical engineering work in support of U.S. government and allied nation partners.

STEM Flights
About STEM Flights
STEM Flights is a national nonprofit organization that connects middle and high school students with volunteer Pilot Mentors to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Through a unique flight experience, students are inspired to dream big and pursue careers in aviation and STEM fields.
This hands-on opportunity allows students to learn directly from aviation professionals while gaining real-world exposure to STEM in action.

About TJ O’Connor
Tj O’Connor is an award-winning author of mysteries and thrillers whose writing is shaped by real-world experience. He is an international security consultant who specializes in anti-terrorism, investigations, and threat analysis. His professional background provides the authentic detail and tension that define his novels.
Before becoming a full-time writer and consultant, he worked as a government agent and spent years operating in complex environments around the world. These experiences continue to influence his storytelling, giving his work depth, realism, and a global perspective.
Dr. James R. Arnold
Doctor of Podiatric Medicine
About Dr. Arnold
Dr. James R. Arnold earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1998 and completed advanced medical and surgical training at Western Reserve Care System. He relocated to the Shenandoah Valley in 2001 and has been a dedicated podiatric physician and surgeon in the region ever since.
Dr. Arnold serves on the Governing Board of the Valley Health Surgery Center and was appointed to the Virginia Board of Medicine in 2018. He has also served as Podiatry Chair for Winchester Medical Center.
He provides comprehensive foot and ankle care across the Winchester, Woodstock, and Charles Town offices and performs surgery at several Valley Health facilities. He also treats patients at the Center for Advanced Wound Care.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Arnold is active in local youth programs and often gives educational talks to area schools, including Starbase Academy.
Lisa McCauley

About Lisa McCauley
Lisa D. McCauley is a seasoned engineering professional currently serving as a Utility Engineer with the City of Winchester. With a career spanning municipal government and private consulting, she brings a well-rounded perspective on engineering project delivery, team leadership, and infrastructure development.
Lisa has held leadership and project management roles at several respected firms, including Urban, Allegheny Surveys, Dewberry, Appalachian Surveys, and Pennoni Associates. Her experience includes directing engineering departments, managing complex projects, mentoring staff, and supporting clients throughout the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and surrounding regions. She is known for her strong technical foundation, collaborative approach, and commitment to practical, community-focused solutions.
